Transportation Department Funds Large Bridge Restoration Projects

The transportation secretary says grant funding will be distributed to 13 projects in 16 states.

Secretary Pete Buttigieg announced that the department has made over $5 billion available for large bridge repair, distributing the grant funding to 13 nationally significant bridges in 16 states. These projects are required to use American-made materials in their restoration programs, making the bridges more resilient to extreme weather while investing in diverse sections of the U.S. economy.

“For too long America let bridges fall into disrepair, which left people less safe, disrupted our supply chains, and cost people time and money,” said Secretary Buttigieg. “There are currently about 3,000 fewer bridges in poor condition than when our administration began, and today we are proud to announce funding to repair or replace 13 of America’s largest and economically significant bridges.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Buttigieg as he works with state governments to improve American transportation.
  • That leaders in the Department of Transportation would be discerning as they work to maintain infrastructure throughout the U.S.
  • For officials in the president’s administration as they continue to implement the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
